Press: Oflux YACHeadspace unfolds within a transitional zone where thought and form drift between emergence and consolidation. Shapes hover in a muted, universal grey, drawing on the spatial language of modeling systems and speculative environments to gesture toward structures that have not yet settled. In the intervals between surface and implication, support and outer layer, form and the act of viewing, underlying energies and orientations are reconsidered. Against a contemporary backdrop in which experience is increasingly mediated, symbolised, and simulated, Headspace reflects on how forms participate in cultural processes of projection, association, and perception. The work examines the ways in which structures may carry relational or psychological functions, and how these functions are activated, translated, or reorganised through the act of looking. At the same time, it points to the mutability of perceptual experience - the subtle tremors that arise when established meanings are gently unsettled, allowing symbolic frameworks and emotional channels to open toward new states.
My practice examines how identity is produced, performed and made legible through space, appearance and social relations. Working across moving image, installation, sculpture, sound, performance and digital media, I explore questions of being, belonging and individual agency as shaped by systems of regulation, projection and perception that often sit beyond one’s control. Informed by lived discomfort, my work moves between public space, subcultural environments, domestic interiors and speculative worlds, often unfolding through aesthetics of pressure, extremity and pain. Drawing on knowledge gleaned from BDSM, rave and club subcultures, as well as DJ mixing, I explore how established structures of power can be disrupted and reconfigured through pleasure, consent and intensity.
